When God Isn’t Enough

We fill our schedule with work related things, hoping to find fulfillment in the promotion.
We spend hours in our hobbies, relishing in the spurts of joy.
We continue on for the next new gadget, appliance, or house furnishing; thinking it will satisfy.
We [insert your thing here] to numb the pain, hurt, and regret we’re experiencing.
We find our identity in our family, so much so that we worship it’s existence.
We try self help books, thinking we can tackle it on our own.
We study & educate ourselves, getting so smart that we’ve convinced ourselves we’re too smart for a god.
We become apathetic to life, and it becomes a mundane existence of repetition.
For me personally…
I convince myself that pouring into others will help offset the pain and hurt of life I’m scared to address.

But, when I have bought into the lie that God isn’t enough, I just find myself playing whack-a-mole. Do you remember that game? Every time the mole would jump up you’d smack it with the mallet and try to squash as many as possible in the given time. When I think God isn’t enough, I attempt to fill the void with other things. But, with all things this side of Heaven besides the Creator, the things I embrace are fleeting. So, I squash it and pick a new, and so on, until I’m having a visceral response to my inner struggle. I get sick, down, tired, depressed. Then, like a lightbulb bursting into all it’s gleaming brightness, it hits me…

GOD IS ENOUGH.

God is enough.
He’s enough.
He’s bigger than your problems.
He’s stronger than your weakness.
He’s larger than your worries.
He’s smarter than all your doubts.
He’s able to conquer your pain.
He’s there all the time.
He’s never given up on you.
He’s the perfect Father who cares for you.
He’s the stability in your chaos.
He’s the hope when you’re down & out.
He’s the strength when you can no longer walk.
He’s the physician when you are hurting.
He’s the one who conquered death.
He’s the only one who can save you.
He’s the reason you live.
He’s the very one who made you unique and a masterpiece.
He’s the relationship you desperately need.

GOD IS ENOUGH.
