Don’t Get Jacked

Came across a program that at first glance was a little stupid to me until… I read an article about laptop theft and thought to myself, “I love Bessy (my macbook) and wouldn’t want her to be touched by just anybody, especially a thief.”

So I downloaded iAlertU and it is great. I can go visit the little boys room while at Panera and leave my laptop sitting as is… knowing iAlertU will sound off like a madman and take a photo of the culprit and send it to me email if they try touching it. Pretty sweet. If you have a Mac, go download it here, right now. Seriously. Immediately.

New Trend…?!?

“Pay what you want?” or “Pay what you think it’s worth to you?” Seriously? Well that is what Radiohead is laying on the line to it’s fans, critics and fellow musicians. Since October 10th, you can just roll onto Radiohead’s website, and pay what you wish (or not pay for that matter if you choose) and get the complete album “In Rainbows.” It’s the newest release from one of my favorite bands and it begs to be asked…

Is this the future of music downloads and getting media? Most bands make their money on the road and through concert sales. CD’s will soon be done away with due to online download sites like iTunes, MSN Music, and Amazon’s recently released Unbox.

I think the church needs to get on this train of thought and see how they can use the web, downloads, interactivity to connect, inform, entertain, (or lure for lack of a better term) people to checking out content so we can hook ‘em. Like Vince (our lead pastor) talks about us fishing and where we go and what we use for bait (see blog on it here); I think the church needs to think waaaaaayyyyyy outside the box on this one.

I’m still trying to process this whole thing while absolutely loving the new album (which in case you were wondering I paid $6 for… I thought it was reasonable). How can the church not only look to the future of planting, fishing and growing… but how can WE set the pace for culture?! Ponder that for a minute. I know I’ve been thinking on it for weeks.

wanting all the right things

My wife and I have really ejoyed the show, Desperate Housewives since it started a few years ago. I preached a series on it last year and it has a quite a few parallels to the Christian life (or lack thereof). Anyway, I was browsing the site and saw a book that would be great for young women lossely based on that series and how women relate to the world around them.

Here is a promo video for the book, check it out:

egg walkin’ and car pullin’

Seriously, this is crazy. (taken from http://www.stunning-stuff.com/read-weird-news-stories/126.html)

A Chinese man has managed to pull a car while walking on eggs without breaking a single egg.Not only did he pull the car 20 meters, he actually did it with his ears!

The 38-year-old probably has the strangest talent ever seen, but he sure drew a big crowd while he was pulling the car in Dehui, Jinli. The onlookers were astonished by the man’s performance. Zhang says he started learning the stunt when he was only 8 years old. Another amazing thing this Chinese can do is pick up a 25 kg bicycle with his mouth while, of course, standing on eggs.We can’t figure out what his talents are good for, but they sure are amazing.
