House Rules: Sermon On The Mount

This Sunday we wrap up our series, “Forgotten God.”
I cannot wait until this week. It’s going to be off the hook.
But… the series we have coming next is going to be great. It’s called “House Rules.”

We’re going to walk through the greatest sermon ever preached. In depth.
Because it’s so great, we’re taking May & June to look at it thoroughly.
It all kick off on April 4th, 2010. 10 A.M. @ Ocean Lakes High School.
We won’t leave any stone unturned. So if you want to gear up for inviting your friends, it’s going to be a really great series. Jesus changed the rules of the game with His ministry, life, death, and this amazing teaching from the mountainside.

To help you get ready for it, we’ve included a couple things.
First a couple desktop wallpapers for you to get in the spirit of the series:
House Rules Series Wallpaper, click here
House Rules Artwork Wallpaper, click here

And, we wanted you to be able to enjoy the artwork done by various artists over at The Plow.
These pieces tell the story in such a unique way.
All pieces are interpreted from the Sermon On The Mount.

Promo video and more coming soon. While you prepare for the series, grab a Bible, flip over to the Book of Matthew in the New Testament & read chapters 5, 6, and 7. Or… you can just click here and read it right now.

Inked: Q&A w/ Tony Scambony

Inked. Branded. Marked.
What does it look like to be marked by God?
By His love, healing, restoring power?
A couple of weeks ago we launched a series titled, “Inked.” We’ve been looking at the healings of Jesus. People’s lives being touched (branded) by Jesus, they are healed, and life as they know it is never the same.

As we filmed for the series bumper at Fuzion Ink, we hung out and talked with the artists (one of which attends Forefront with his family) and it was so cool to hear their stories.
How life has moved them.
How their lives and their clients stories intertwine through this artistic medium.
How a community of artists who many people are scared of just because the way they look (craziness!), is actually an amazing family of people who look out for one another.

This is Tony Scambony and his story. Enjoy.

Inked: Q&A w/ Dave Lukeson

Inked. Branded. Marked.

Last week we launched this series, “Inked” which is an extension of the scenes we see throughout the New Testament of the Bible. People’s lives being touched (branded) by Jesus, they are healed, and life as they know it is never the same.

One of the first guys we caught up with is Forefront’s very own, Dave Lukeson. Enjoy.

Forefront meets 10 a.m. Sundays at Ocean Lakes High School.

Broken People Wrap Up

We wrapped up our “Broken People” series with an unusual message. I struggled to figure out if it was supposed to be drama, story tellers, straight forward message, or what. In the end it was a hybrid of the 3-4 different versions God had led me to write.

Normally we judge a message’s strength by how many people seem to be engaged and impacted. We decided this series wasn’t the case. We wanted to count it simply by the number of cards, decisions, and correspondence we had with people as God moved them through this series.

I was amazed at what God did! He moved people who had been coming from 2 weeks to 10 years. He prompted them to deal with some deep rooted brokenness. In a way I think this series changed my life just as much as it did theirs. I embedded the last message of the series for your viewing pleasure.

(Note: The video starts at 8 seconds. We have an area of black for our tech team at our second campus so they have time to cue it.)

New Series This Week

This week at the Beach Campus we’re starting a new series, “BROKEN PEOPLE.” You may totally see the brokenness in your life or maybe you think you have it all together. If you fall into one of those, or anywhere in between- this is a series you won’t want to miss.

If you’re having questions, hurting, or already going through some brokenness right now- my email is jason@forefront.org and I would love to talk with you.

I’ve been praying about this series for awhile now and can’t wait to see the impact it’s going to have on Forefront and the people in our community.

Special thanks to Justin Allen for making a sweet series graphic. You’re the man.

Done and Done.

It’s 12:24 a.m. on Tuesday and it’s finished. I finished the series planning/ sermon schedule for 2009. I taught it a lesson. I kicked it’s butt. I yelled mean things about it’s mom. I am done with the planning. Now on to the writing. I’m pumped about the series’ we’re doing this year. I can leak a few of the titles, but that’s all the teasers you get for now:

  • Guerilla Lovers
  • &@%#^! Irritated
  • My Movie Life 2009
  • World Changers
  • I Love The 80′s
  • School House Rock

2009 is gonna be great. I can see it now as all you Forefronters are going to connect with more of your friends, reach out to foreign countries, visit church plants to aid in their start-up, and turn our community upside down like never before. Until next time,

Rumor Has It…

Rumor has is that the Ballin’ series is going to have quite a few spoofs over the next four weeks. One of the shows I LOVED back in the day was In Living Color. There were some sketches done by the Waynes Bros. where they hosted the “Homeboy Shopping Network” (check out the video at the end of the post). They were all about giving tips and tricks on how to make money fast without using your own.

Hmmmm… I wonder if there would be any attempt to do such things in the opening week of the series?!? I smell a video idea…

Ballin’

Ballin’ (baaaaaaallll’~en)

1. /noun/ to play basketball (nope, not for this series)
2. /adjective/ one who is in a state of being extremely rich (chiggity-check)
3. /adjective/ to be well respected, in high status, wealthy beyond the norm (cha-cha-check)

In this next series, Ballin’- we are going to take a look at what it means to live a life in God when it comes to wealth, finances, and how does that line up with what American culture tells us. Let’s face it, right now everyone is having a rough go at things financially and we all could use a pep talk and direction on how to better manage what God provides for us.

Check it out the next 4 weeks at Beach Campus and it starts the following week at Chesapeake. You won’t want to miss it. (Rumor has it there is some rap action going on in the opening?!? I’m just saying, it should be interesting).

See you this Sunday.

My Movie Life

So we’re starting a new series this Sunday: My Movie Life. Check out the micro-site, evite and a couple promos for the series and website below. How are you promoting your series using the web? I’d love to here your ideas.
