The Rundown From Sunday

  • Met 4 new girls who are in the Navy. Two started coming a little while ago and yesterday they brought two friends with them. They all want to get in a Gel Group.
  • A couple from Forefront brought three neighbors and their families yesterday. Met & talked with them, they loved it.
  • The band yesterday really led us towards God yesterday. Loved when they played “Amazing, Because It Is.” Awesome.
  • Wrapped up the “Game Time” series. I’m not always sure how series will hit with the congregation. This one worked. People were engaged the entire four weeks.
  • “Why do I worry about series impact? God’s got it under control. Stop it Jason.” (voices in my head)
  • I’ve seen a surprising influx of people who left Forefront- returning. It’s funny how God works.
  • Loved spending time with the girls after church. They are so happy.
  • Speaking of the girls, it takes 30-45 extra minutes to go anywhere. Gonna have to start running “Get in and out of house drills”
  • Aidnow.org Benefit got a bunch of sign-ups. It’s this Friday. Be there!
  • Want to know more about it? Call Lisa: 757-468-1188

Random Stuff

  • I read a great article in Collide Magazine on Weapons of Choice. Things pastors/leaders use in the daily grind.
  • Riding my bike is a beautiful thing. Losing weight and feeling good.
  • Working on a project for Forefront that makes my brain hurt, but in a good way.
  • I’m aiming at transforming Chloe’s room into a little pink rockstar room with a stage & lights- sometime in the Fall. It’s going to be epic. She loves music.

Monday Morning Re-Cap

  • Courtney & Ryan were baptized yesterday after service. Thanks goes to God
  • Preached on worry… and I was worried briefly about the topic. Ironic.
  • Elders, Dan, & I met about some possible big things in Forefront’s future over the next three years. Please pray. It’s exciting.
  • We have 4 people getting baptized at a Gel Group this Wednesday Night. God is breaking people’s hearts for Him. Love it.
  • Our band covered, “Coming Home” by New Found Glory and Jessica (vocalist) sang it 100x better than their lead singer (who makes a living off singing). He’s got a nasal vibe that drives me up a wall (sorry had to vent).
  • We have a N.A. group meeting in our warehouse space weekly. I am so glad God allowed us a space to do ministry 24-7. If we aren’t doing ministry & loving people full-time (paid or not), we’re not truly living the life He’s called us to live.
  • I really like the weekly announcement video during service. Big shout out to Justin Allen for dropping it like it’s hot.
  • Watched the MTV Movie Awards last night. Who knew Tom Cruise had moves like that?!? Holy cow.
  • Finished my second time through Wayne Cordeiro’s book “Leading on Empty.” Great reminders on how to stay full in who God made us.
  • Biking everyday takes my mind off of the craziness. You should buy a bike. Today.
  • It also saves a ton on gas. So, you should buy a bike. It pays for itself in a couple weeks.
  • My daughter turned 2. She never got into anything before. In the last 72 hours she has painted herself head to toe in nail polish and also drank some hand sanitizer.
  • Yes, we watch our child.
  • Don’t call child protective services (alright, I’m done with that topic).
  • The Mets should just take up another sport. I’m thinking turn the place into a regulation Cornhole Tournament Stadium. Hmmmmm.
  • Have yet to see Avatar, Iron Man 2, or Robin Hood. I need a dudes night out ASAP. Who wants to go?
  • Excited about this Sunday and preaching. I’m feeling in the zone lately. God is just pouring into me.
  • Kind of like we talked about a couple of weeks ago… “You cannot pour out what you don’t have.” How are you connecting with God?

Love God. Love People. Turn The World Upside Down.

Monday Mind Dump

  • Loved service yesterday at church, the volunteer leaders made it happen.
  • I write too fast for my own good sometimes. While doing prep for the message I wrote down 48AD instead of 60AD when James was written. Putting it 30ish years after the death of Jesus. Sometimes I think faster than my hands can write/type.
  • Luckily, the message of James loving God and giving us wise council still came across with flying colors, the emails and phone calls are proof enough. Love it.
  • Enjoyed the break from preaching for a week on the 27th. It was nice to listen to the word preached for a moment.
  • Realized I need to listen more, talk less (My wife has been telling me for years).
  • New website layout is easier to navigate.” (according to the emails & Facebook messages)
  • Heard a few people (actually just 3) don’t like the green on our office/website/program. What did green ever do to you? Green is great. Just ask the Jolly Green Giant, Green Lantern, the hills on Windows XP desktop background, the environment, and Gerber baby food.
  • Well, maybe not the baby food. I take it back.
  • We moved over to CCB instead of Shelby. Web based software is way better (and makes us more effective & saves us money over the long haul).
  • I started drinking water exclusively after my meeting this morning. If you see me going for a soda, punch me in the arm, HARD.
  • Riding a bike in the cold is tough, but I have to do it. Gotta look good for my smoking hot wife.
  • Glad to hear Whiteboard is making it’s second appearance. Our staff is looking to go and be a part. Anyone else in?
  • Started the Robert Roberts reading plan on the 1st. Loving the reading in the morning, afternoon and night. Wanna read along with me? I’ll be posting how to do that later in the week.
  • Got to watch a father/son get baptized in the last ten days of 2009. Very cool to see lives being changed by the gospel message of Jesus.
  • Speaking of the last ten days, take a look at this video of the last ten days of 2009 @ Forefront

Tuesday Mind Dump

  • God did some amazing things on Sunday
  • Beach and Chesapeake Campuses both were great
  • I wasn’t feelin’ my message, but God did some cool things despite my thoughts
  • The opening rap intro at Beach was off the hook
  • “Chesapeake people, you are in for a great service this week! Seriously.”
  • Loved hearing everyone yell, “BAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLIIIIINNNNN!” Ha.
  • Funny how we just kicked off the finance/money series and offerings were up
  • Even funnier is the offering was before the message, God is moving in us big time, before anyone even speaks. I love it.
  • Got to eat with good friends at El Pollo Loco after church. Have you been there? It’s GREAT!
  • For everyone who was checking out Chloe in the lobby Sunday, “Yes, I know she is a chunky baby. And yes, she does not miss a meal.” I love my baby girl.
  • So all you parents looking for a new stroller… have you called these guys? Funny stuff.
  • Filming some man on the street video this week, “What would you do if you had $100 dollars?”
  • Baptism service Sunday night was AMAZING! 7 people were baptized in a backyard hot tub, the yard was packed, hot apple cider flowing, fire pit blazing, and everyone had a great time (check out the video in last blog post).

Monday Mind Dump

- We’ve been hosting the Hub City Pastors this weekend and today we’ll be talking with them about church planting ideas.

- If you’ve never visited their site, Improv Everywhere is setting the pace in culture for doing things no one has even tried, it’s a place to lose time watching their videos. Seriously.

- Weatherproof Mirror TVs?!? Does media/tv HAVE to be everywhere? I’m not sold on it.

- If come kick it at your house, need to use the restroom, and find THIS! I will cut off all contact and will fear you for life.

- Creative planning meeting today for the One Prayer series. Tons of churches jumping in with this. Are you in?

- MMMmmmmm! This makes me hungry and ready for the Big Game.

- Gonna start a series on Pro-Presenter and a few how-to’s this week. Stay tuned.

Monday Mind Dump

Good morning bloggers. I’m headed to a Tidewater Tides game to eat hotdogs, yell at umpires, and hopefully see the Orioles farm team win a game today. So while I’m with the staff hanging at the ball park, figured I’d drop some fun links that could COMPLETELY waste your time at work (courtesy of my sis).

#1 is my fav and wasted hours on it. and I can’t wait to stay at #4, and if while hanging around too long at #2 makes me need to go #2, then I’ll hopefully be close to #3. Anyways, later peeps.

  1. Nothing good on TV? Channel hop on Neave Television. Probably one of the most bizarre things ever.
  2. The Events House has made a massive slot racer track for the kid in all of us.
  3. Google’s toilets offer rear cleansing. Thank God!
  4. French company Abilmo has developed collapsible hotel room that people can quickly construct in just about any location.
