McDisaster

I have never wanted nuggets this bad.
Never.
Well… yup, never.
Check out the video below (no sound, so make up the crazy dialogue in your head) and the full story here.

Dear Mr. Black SUV Driver

As I came biking by this intersection at 7:15 a.m., I glanced at you waiting to make a right turn. You were doing something with your mobile phone.
I thought nothing of it.
I continued on my way listening to Saves The Day.
Thinking about what my work schedule had in store.
Then I got to here…

Yes, that grassy area on the right is where I was laying when you hit your brakes. That was after you clipped my elbow with your mirror, sending me end over end. Then you floored it and faded off in the distance.
I’m fine.
I forgive you.
$35 later, I’ll have a working back wheel again.
Please me more careful.
Put down your cell phone and pay attention to the road.
Lucky for you, I didn’t have my glasses on so I couldn’t read your plate.
But, now my wife has one more instance to remind me about when I go riding.
Super.
Thanks Mr. Black SUV Driver.
You’re the best.

Love, Your friend with a throbbing elbow.

Practice, Practice, Practice.

Speaking is tough.
I love it, but it is not easy to craft a fine tuned message every week.
It takes a great deal of study, research, prayer… and practice.
Yep, Practice.
So, when I went to speak at the church I first worked at, I knew I had to bring my “A” game.
Real Life was the place I learned to let my ego go.
During those 7+ years of ministry I became a better leader.
I released a lot of anger issues, made plenty of mistakes, and received a lot of grace.
I love Forefront, but it was nice to see some old friends and speak about “Temptation.”

Family Friday

Chaos.
Pure, uninterrupted, beautiful chaos.
She digs it.

Playing in her room, crawling around and getting into everything (all with a stinky diaper I later found out, ugh). But not a peep. She could care less that it was in her diaper. As long as she was having fun with the toys, trying to pull the cord out to the TV (I need to fix that somehow), getting to move around the room- it didn’t matter.

It reminds me a lot of you and I. We roll through life with this dirt, filth, depression, troubles, sin, etc. But, as long as we are content and happy, we push on through. We don’t let anyone know. In the process we have fun, but we also put ourselves in danger (may I remind you of the TV cord/outlet).

As Chloe’s dad I am here to guide her and direct her. Through the good and bad. The best part is she allows me to do that right now. But as she gets older she will get strong willed, put up a fight, and think “she knows best.”

I’m sure this doesn’t sound at all familiar.
You have never been that kid, right?
God has never been that dad with you… right?!

Sounds like we have a lot to think about. Until next time,
