Not-So Guaranteed

The idea of “get rich quick” schemes & “used car salesman” tactics drive me insane. It’s even worse when it creeps it’s way into the church. Can we really guarantee growth, depth, wealth, and “the perfect church” situation because of our man-made, thought out plan?
Well, trust me it is definitely out there.

The thing I’ve been contemplating lately is,

“The early church didn’t have campaigns, perfected systems, proven track records, and over the top technology- and they did more than alright…
they soared.”

When did leaders/pastors get sold on cookie cutter churches, systems, and success? What happened to the organic, learn the lay of the land & people who live there, let’s find what works for us kind of leadership? The guys who weren’t scared to try anything and didn’t care if Paul, Luke, Mark, James, or Matthew had tried the idea and made it sky rocket where they were. Leaders who didn’t change course everytime a new letter was written, blog post dropped, book was released, or twitter update moved them.

Leaders who just decided to lead with God moving them forward.
I want to surround myself with leaders like that.
Those guys inspire me.
Not to carbon copy their plans, church, or systems- but to be around their undying passion for God’s church.

Excerpt from another blog “The Biblical Basis For A Church Capital Campaign”

“I love it when people object to a capital campaign because they don’t see the term in the scriptures. It presents a wonderful teaching opportunity on a topic that is very dear to God, the stewardship of our money. I am quick to let people know that the word “trinity” does not appear anywhere in the scriptures, yet it is a fundamental doctrine of Christianity.

(The following is an excerpt from the Abundant Giving Training & Resource Manual)
We have two excellent church building examples in the Old Testament – those of building the tent of the tabernacle and the building of the temple. These examples, along with those provided in the minor prophets regarding rebuilding the temple and the walls of Jerusalem provide an excellent foundation for biblical fundraising.”

I still love John Mark, I've wanted to run away on occasion (being naked it totally optional). It definitely is embarrassing to see so many guaranteed systems and ideas out there. It takes God and His power to move people's lives completely out of the equation. Thanks for the kind words/encouragement. It's crazy to be at this place in life and in ministry, but I feel honored to be called to serve Him in this way. I've been keeping up with Whiskerino on Facebook, love it. Seriously makes me laugh every time I check 'em out. Next time you're in the area, give me a shout.
